Squeak, who is invulnerable to enemies and enemy fire, has own AI and would help collect items or give Bubble a boost via piggy-back, letting Squeak toss him up to tall heights or by simply standing on top of Squeak's head. Players control Bubble and at any time during gameplay they can command Squeak to either 'follow' or 'wait' for him. Shortly after, Squeak encounters a human boy known only as Bubble who agrees to rescue Grool's captured populace.
The idyllic and mundane lifestyle of the feline aliens is interrupted when an alien invader known as Kat of Nine Tails kidnaps Grool's sentient populace, inadvertently leaving one of them, Squeak, behind. The story takes place on the planet Grool, a planet inhabited by mostly short, anthropomorphous felines. The platform levels are separated by brief underwater scrolling shooter bonus segments. The game is a childlike sci-fi fantasy platform game in which players control a little human boy named Bubble along with recent alien acquaintance Squeak. It was developed by Fox Williams under the name Barney & Clyde, and they ported it to the Sega Genesis for which it was published by Sunsoft under license from Audiogenic. Handy, that! The characters are lovable and make a very entertaining duo.Bubble and Squeak is a platform game published for the Amiga in 1994 by Audiogenic Software. It suits the graphics and the characters just perfectly.Īnd of course the characters themselves are great! It's pretty cool how Bubble can just abuse Squeak (you can kick him, stand on his head.) and yet Squeak seems completely fine about it. The music never fails to get me in a good mood. Squeak will start fidgeting if you leave him for a while, and Bubble will look shocked and confused whenever an enemy hurts him. You can move Bubble around the screen and if he is close enough, Squeak will watch. The graphics have a friendly, cartoony feel about them, and are pleasantly detailed. Thank goodness there are level passwords!
It can even get pretty frustrating sometimes, especially as some levels have a time limit. Don't be fooled by the cute graphics and bouncy music - this game is challenging. Love this game!! The gameplay is a nice combination of action and puzzle.
